Kathmandu: Despite the monsoon entering Nepal over a week ago, its advancement is progressing slowly, and it may take around a week or more for it to reach nationwide coverage, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

Senior Meteorologist Prativa Manandhar reported that the monsoon is currently active in the northern and eastern parts of Koshi Province, where most districts are experiencing rainfall.

"The monsoon's progression towards the west is occurring at a very slow pace," Manandhar explained. It is expected to take an additional two to three days for the monsoon to arrive in Kathmandu. Following this, it may take another five to seven days to reach the Sudurpaschim Province.

This slower-than-expected advancement means that while some regions are receiving much-needed rain, others will have to wait a bit longer for the monsoon's full impact.
